Online operator MRG has recently announced its intentions to start rolling out sports betting services within the country of Denmark. The plans come after MRG’s online casinos proved to be successful within the Danish market., and their latest sports betting licence will allow them to focus on offering sports services.
The licence, which was awarded by Danish regulator Spillenmydigheden, will allow MRG to launch its sports betting portfolio and platform to Danish customers. MRG received a national casino licence in December of 2017, and they’ve launched their casino sites binosjov.dk and bingolottet.dk since.
A statement from MRG explained that their casino websites have grown quickly, and are considered a success, which led the company to seek a sports betting licence. Per Norman, chief executive for MRG told reporters that it was always their intention to launch a sports betting service within Denmark.
After their rebranding from Mr Green, MRG has been looking to expand into a number of other European markets, with their latest being the Baltic’s. MRG has also recently applied for a new licence in Sweden, where online gaming regulations are being reviewed and changed for the beginning of next year.
Commenting on the Swedish licence, Norman explained that Sweden is an important market, and that they are looking forward to the re-regulation. He added that although Sweden isn’t their biggest market, it represented around 18 percent of their total revenue for Q2 2018, and pushed them to acquire the new licence.
